I had requested an early check-in time of about 12:30 PM, to which I am entitled as an IHG Club Spire Elite member. ![]() Check-in was, entirely unexpectedly, a nightmare. The hotel keeps a chiller filled with bottles of spring water in the lobby the water is free to all guests. There are three elevators, and they seem to more than sufficient for the size of this hotel. There was a good-sized and spotlessly clean fridge in the room. All staffers that I encountered during my stay, including front desk staffers, managers, housekeepers, and restaurant staff, were quite helpful and attentive, and responsive. My room was very quiet I never heard any significant sounds from other rooms, nor from the hallway. All hallways and common spaces were wide, spotlessly clean and neat, spacious, and well-lighted. The bathroom was quite spacious and extremely clean. See below for my comments regarding room lighting. My room (#813) was quite good: very clean, although not very spacious, and well-furnished. WiFi signal strength in my 8th floor room facing east was great. Here are some notes regarding my stay, in no particular order: - WiFi was excellent, and quite fast over 95% of the time. As an FYI, my lengthy & comprehensive Yelp reviews have been favorably mentioned as helpful and informative in articles in the NY Times and numerous other print & online news media. This was my first stay at this hotel, although I have stayed at numerous other Hotel Indigo properties, and also at many other IHG properties, including Holiday Inn, Kimpton Hotel, Crowne Plaza, and the IHG flagship property, the Palazzo in Las Vegas. I am an IHG Club Spire Elite & Inner Circle (formerly Kimpton Inner Circle) member, and I made my room reservation well in advance online on the hotel website. I have written reviews for over two dozen IHG hotels, including Hotel Indigo properties, and this is the first time in history that I am forced to give an IHG hotel a rating of below 5 stars, and worse, a rating of 3 stars! Basically a good hotel, but with a lot of unexpected rough edges which I will describe below. I would probably not stay here again until I knew that they had done some serious work with the reliability of their housekeeping staff. They also did not change our sheets the entire time we were there. The third day, they simply missed us again. The first day they completely missed our room, the second day I called and asked them specifically to come clean the room (and they did). Also in our 4 night stay, housekeeping only came to clean our room once. The food on the tray was moldy and the water in a glass had actually turned black - telling us it had been hidden up there for quite a while, probably a few weeks or more. We found an old food tray that had been tucked away on top of the wardrobe. However, our visit was really smeared by the fact that housekeeping left a lot to be desired. The beds were also really very comfortable and a liked the fact that they had digital thermostat in the room that did both hot and cold temperature control (have stayed at hotels in the past that just do one or the other). The hotel is a great location and its really nicely decorated. OTHER: We appreciated free late check-out at 1:00 PM.This was my first ever visit to KC for a friend's wedding. No complimentary parking however, there is a covered garage behind the hotel that cost $18/24h. LOCATION/PARKING: Excellent downtown location within walking distance of activities & restaurants. CUSTOMER SERVICE: Quick to respond to emails pleasant in-person. The food was delicious & delivered quickly.
